The circus has left the building

King City, CA: Hello everybody! Today is the last day of the 2011 Salinas Valley Fair. Circus Imagination is sad to be leaving, but as we wrap this fair up the next one is already on the way! Next week we are going to be at the Chowchilla County Fair which starts on May 19th and ends on May 22nd.

Our first circus of the day was at noon and we had Tina the Tight Rope Walker who performed her act with such passion we almost forgot we are a pretend circus! We also featured Lions, Monkeys and elephants being tamed by the fearless Lion Tamer, and the Champagne Sisters all the way from Paris, France. Even though it was a small show, it was gigantic in imagination!

Our second show of the day was at 2 PM and it was unquestionably a big circus! In many uses of the word: we had a large number of kids and they were all a little older than our usual volunteers. The circus included Tina the Tight Rope Walker, the incredibly bouncy monkey Butterfly Ballerinas making their debut today at Circus Imagination! (Check the picture below) Is it because we are a circus that odd things happen in our show or is it because odd things happen in our show that we are a circus? Either way we love when they do! We also had Champagne Sisters, the great Lion Tamer and his troop of ferocious animals: two lions, a lion cub, an elephant, a leopard and a giant gorilla dressed up as a clown! There was also two cowgirls, one doing whip tricks and the other one shooting tricks. And of course our grand finale the unbelievable Human Cannon Ball!

Our third show of the day was at 4 PM and it was a great way to wrap up our run at the 2011 Salinas Valley Fair. We had a very excited Tina the Tight Rope Walker, a talented Lion Tamer that did a wonderful job with the tall lions, gorilla and pony but he just couldn’t control the lion cub! It was really funny to watch! And we had the wonderful unexpected visit of Janice the Strong Woman! She drove for six long hours with her four little kids just to be part of our circus today! What a wonderful mom! Too bad it seems she’ll be losing her job in the circus soon since when it was time for her to pick up the very heavy weight she just couldn’t do it! But that did not stop the show, because Briana the Clown suddenly appeared on stage and said she could do it! And she did! Check it out the picture below. What a strong little clown! Thank you guys for joining the circus! And Briana we are looking forward to see pictures from your porcelain doll circus show soon!

Circus Imagination would like to thank the Salinas Valley Fair for having us here this year, it was absolutely great! We would also like to thank all the children that participated in our show, and remember kids: The circus is never over because when you go home you can use your imaginations, just like Briana did, and create your very own Circus Imagination! We hope you guys had a good time and we hope to see you next year!

That’s it kids!

Circus Strong Man comes to visit

King City, CA: Today started with some chili winds and overcast skies, a big change from the previous hot muggy days. Circus Imagination’s first show of the day was at NOON and it was a great way to warm up in this cold day! – Even more for whoever is wearing the costume of the fuzzy and warm gorilla…

The first circus featured Tina the Tight Rope Walker, lions, tigers and bears being tamed by a 4 year old trainer! One of the youngest and most talented we have ever seen! And we do see many Lion Tamers around that same age, sometimes they start taming lions as young as 3 years of age – both lions and trainers!

Our second show of the day was at 2 PM and Circus Imagination welcomed a very special guest that doesn’t travel with the circus that often. Chad the Strong Man, and his loyal companion Griffin the Clown. But something extraordinary happen, when it was time for the Strong Man to lift up his enormous weight, as the crowd was cheering, he just couldn’t do it! This was definitely not a good day for the Strong Man….Then out of the blue this little clown comes out and completely steals the spotlight by picking up the weight that the Strongman couldn’t and with such ease it seemed it was made of feathers!

Circus imagination also featured today two very special Champagne Sisters, miss Scout and miss Catheryn. You could say they are experienced circus performers by now, since they joined Circus Imagination last year at the Monterey County Fair! Thank you girls for sharing all your talent and laughs with us! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY 9 YEAR OLD Catheryn! Hope to see you girls later this year at Monterey again!

Our third show of the day happened at 4 PM and there was something unusual in the Butterfly Ballerinas act. Even though it is usual for unusual things to happen in our circus, this one we’ve never seen happen before! The Butterfly Ballerinas were dancing around, as usual, and when the Butterfly Collector Clown suddenly came to chase them, believe it or not he was wearing a tutu! Smart clown… dressed just like what he was trying to catch, almost made him disappear in between the girls. If only he didn’t have a big red nose sticking out maybe he could have fooled us!

Well this is it for today!

Weird fair food of the day: Ringmaster and Costumier Carolina tried something that you can say is both breakfast and desert, both fried and sweet, both bacon and chocolate! Yes… we did it, we had some chocolate covered bacon! And let us say that it is worth a try! Beyond doubt a taste we’ve never tasted before! And will never forget! And now it sits next in the list with frog legs and deep fried butter…

International Circus

Today is Friday he 13th! Happy birthday to our circus friend from Brazil Ana! We love you! And well… do you know where all the buzz from Friday the 13th comes from? It’s nothing more than the intriguing link modern society has put between ancient cultures superstitious fear of Fridays and the number thirteen. As a result, the unluckiest day of the year is nothing but the union of the day believed to be the unluckiest day of the week together with the unluckiest number! Superstitions are all fun to talk about, but they have this name because they’re not true! They’re a credulous believe or notion not based upon reason or knowledge.

It’s the second day of the 2011 Salinas Valley Fair! The sky is blue, the sun is shining and Circus Imagination is rocking! – more like calliopeing…

Our first show of the day was at NOON and again we welcomed another double performer! Two in two days! Two points for the girls team! This time it was 4 year old K.K. who performed the part of Tina the Tight Rope Walker and she was also a wild pony – at least as wild as a pony can be!

Circus Imagination’s second show of the day at 2 PM was not just any circus, it was an international circus! We welcomed a troop of little Spanish wild animals!

Our third and last show at the day happened at 4 PM and it was again an international circus! Esta vez las apariciones internacionales Tina la equilibrista en la cuerda tensa y el domador de leones con sus dos animales más grandes! The audience was so full of excitement and energy encouraging all the Circus Imagination performers to do a great job! And they did! Who says language is a barrier? It’s more like a bridge, and we shall all meet in the middle!

Tomorrow Circus Imagination shows are at NOON, 2 PM & 4 PM at the 2011 Salinas Valley Fair! See you there!

The Circus is Back!

King City, CA:  Yesterday was the first day of the 2011 Salinas Valley Fair and also the first time Circus Imagination is in town! We are very happy to be here and enjoying this new experience, new audience and new place! Talking about first times, maybe second … oh well not enough times because we are still counting: the Circus Imagination Big Top can be found in a very different place than usual at this fair. I’ll give you a few tips:

1-      No grass underneath us but wooden floors,

2-      No sky above the tent, but a very tall ceiling,

3-      It’s a place that habitually hosts sports events!

I’m sure you guessed right! Circus Imagination is inside the gymnasium at the Salinas Valley Fair!

Our first show happened at 11:30 AM and our audience was exactly the way we like it: full and 90% made of children! It was kids day at the fair and Circus Imagination was happy to welcome all school tours in our show! We started with Tina the Tight Rope Walker, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8… 9 Butterfly Ballerinas! Champagne Sisters and a very busy Lion Tamer trying hard to control monkeys, elephants, lions and a very crazy bear!

Our second show started at 1PM and it was definitely one of those shows full of excitement and excited kids! We had Calamity Oakley our famous cowgirls and yes, the Human Cannon Ball finally showed up for work!

Our last show happened at 2:50 PM, odd time to announce on the microphone: “The show starts at ten to three!” The building we’re in was later turned into a wine tasting event for the remaining of the day.

This last show of the day had one of those extremely talented double performers we run by sometimes… Her name was Morgan and she was Tina the Tight Rope Walker and also a Butterfly Ballerina. “You guys need a magic act in the show”, she stated on her way out. How about Morgan the Magician? But we might need you to come be a part of the travelling circus!

Today Circus Imagination has 3 show at the 2011 Salinas Valley Fair: NOON, 2 PM & 4PM! For more information about the fair contact the main office at 625 Division Street, King City, CA 93930-3430 or give them a call at (831) 385-3243.
